Diagnostic Notes (Read Before Proceding)

The customer complaint will tell you which Test to use. Only use that category. There is no need to go through the warm driveability test when the customer complaint is the power loss lamp is on. Only perform the limp-in category.

1. Verify the customer complaint. It is very important that you get an accurate description of the problem. Verify when possible the complaint. Road testing is the only recommended way to do this.
2. Perform visual checks. Experience has shown that many problems are caused by loose connectors, frayed insulation, loose hose clamps, leaks in vacuum or fuel lines. A short visual check will help you spot these most common faults and save a lot of unnecessary test and diagnostic time. If there are no obvious faults that can be identified visually, proceed with the test sequence.
3. Performing the procedure. The procedure is broken down into seven categories:
a. Visual Inspection
b. No Start
c. Hard Start/Start & Stall/Excessive Idle
d. Limp-In Mode
e. Driveability Test Cold
f. Driveability Test Warm
g. Driveability Test-Fault Codes
