SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Battery goes dead if vehicle is stored one month or longer on 1987 Conquest vehicles built prior to August, 1987.

NOTE: TO PREVENT THE BATTERY DISCHARGE CONDITION, THE ETACS (ELECTRONIC ALARM CONTROL SYSTEM) CONTROL UNIT HAS BEEN MODIFIED. IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRIC CIRCUIT FOR THE ETACS WAS CHANGED FROM THE NO. 1 FUSE CIRCUIT TO THE NO. 8 FUSE CIRCUIT. THEREFORE, THE NO. 1 FUSE WILL BE REMOVED DURING TRANSPORT TO THE DEALER AND SHOULD BE INSTALLED DURING ROAD READY.

DIAGNOSIS

Verify proper charging system operation as outlined in the Trouble Shooting Section, page 8-119, of the 1987 Conquest Service Manual, Volume 2.

PARTS REQUIRED

1 ETACS Electronic Control Unit PN MB571381

REPAIR PROCEDURE

The repair procedure outlines proper vehicle storage guidelines, and ETACS Electronic Control Unit replacement for sold vehicles.
