PERFORMANCE TEST(1) Park the test vehicle away from the direct rays of the sun.
(2) Connect a tachometer and manifold gauge set.
(3) Start the engine.
(4) Press the auto mode button of the on-vehicle air conditioner controls and then reset the control buttons to the maximum cooling positions in manual mode follows:
Mode selection buttons: Face position
Temperature control button: Max. cooling position
Air selection button: Recirculation position
Blower switch: HI (Fast) position
(5) Adjust engine rpm to 1,000 with air conditioner clutch engaged.
(6) Engine should be warmed up with doors, windows closed and the hood open.
(7) Insert a thermometer in the left center air conditioner outlet and operate the engine for 20 minutes.
(8) Note the discharge air temperature.
NOTE If the clutch cycles, take the reading before the clutch disengages.
