Compressor HVAC: Description and Operation
The Variable Displacement Compressor (VDC) is designed to provide maximum compressor output under all operating conditions. It provides this by changing the stroke of the compressor internally, which will vary the compressor output according to the amount of load on the
air conditioning system. The
compressor clutch will remain engaged during operation of the air conditioning system. High side pressure is regulated by the cycling of the
condenser fan by the condenser fan control switch. If this switch fails, and the high side pressure increases out of the normal operating range, the compressor clutch will be disengaged by the high pressure cut out switch.
