ABS Light: Description and Operation

Warning Lamp Operation

To make sure the brake warning lamps (Anti- Lock and Brake System) are working properly, turn the ignition key to the RUN position and make sure the lights go on and then go off after around two seconds (even not simultaneously).

When next you start the engine, the Anti-Lock light must go on again for around two seconds when the key returns to the RUN position.

During driving, both the lights should be off.

CAUTION: if the Anti-Lock lamp goes on when driving, it means the ABS System has been shut off; the brake system will continue to function like a traditional power-brake system.

If both lamps (Anti-Lock Warning and Brake Warning System) go on at the same time, this indicates a situation of real danger caused by an excessive drop in pressure in the hydraulic circuit, with the consequent loss of power-assist or an insufficient level of brake fluid due to a possible leak in the circuit.
