Knock Sensor: Description and Operation

Knock Sensor:

The detonation sensor is a signal generator that operates when a spark knock occurs in the combustion chambers. The sensor is mounted in the engine block where it can detect detonation in any of the cylinders. The sensor informs the Single Module Engine Controller (SMEC) to adjust the spark advance in order to eliminate detonation.
