Scan Tool Text Codes

NOTE: The battery must be fully charged to obtain valid test results.

1. Attempt to stasrt the engine by cranking engine for up to 10 seconds.

2. Using a scan tool, extract any codes set in memory and write fault messages down.
3. If the scan too does not respond SEE TEST NS-6A.
4. If the scan tool displays an error message or blank screen, see BLANK SCREEN TESTING.
5. If fault messages are displayed, refer to the chart below for the appropriate test procedure.
6. If there are no faults displayed, and the vehicle does not start, SEE TEST NS-1A
7. If there are no faults displayed, and the vehicle does start, SEE TEST NF-1A, for no fault code testing.
