Train Noise

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 09-16-95 DATED JUL. 28, 1995, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FILES. ALL REVISIONS ARE MARKED WITH **ASTERISKS**. A TEST SPECIFICATION HAS CHANGED.

MODELS:
1995 - 1996 (LH) Concorde/Intrepid/Vision/LHS/New Yorker

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.5L ENGINE.

DISCUSSION:

The hydraulic valve lash adjusters are assembled using mineral oil. The mineral oil can drain from the adjusters leaving small air bubbles until the engine is run for the first time. New vehicles with valve train noise (clicking or ticking heard on the top of the engine) may not have been run long enough to purge the air bubbles from all the lash adjusters.

If this condition exists on a new vehicle under 10 miles with limited running time, run the engine at idle until the noise goes away. It may take up to **60** minutes running time to purge the air from the lash adjusters. Once the noise has stopped, it should not reoccur.

DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIR UNTIL THE ENGINE HAS RUN FOR **60** MINUTES.
