Thermostat: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Drain cooling system down below the thermostat level.
2. Remove thermostat housing bolts and housing.
3. Remove thermostat, discard gasket and clean both gasket sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION
1. Place a new gasket (dipped in clean water) on water box surface, center thermostat in water box on gasket.
2. Place housing over gasket and thermostat. making sure thermostat is in the thermostat housing.
3. Bolt housing to water box. Tighten bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.).
4. Refill the cooling system to the proper level.
