Tie Rod: Testing and Inspection

SWING RESISTANCE CHECK
1. Give 10 hard swings to the tie rod.
2. Measure the tie rod swing resistance with a spring scale.
3. When the measured value exceeds 7.8 - 27 N (1.8 - 6.2 lbs.), replace the tie rod end.
4. When the measured value is lower than 7.8 - 27 N (1.8 - 6.2 lbs.), check that bail joint turns smoothly without excessive play. If so, it is possible to use that ball joint.
