NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT BETWEEN JULY 20, 1998 (MDH 0720XX) AND OCTOBER 23, 1998 (MDH 1023XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some vehicles may have the roof (headliner) mounted courtesy lamps intermittently flicker when they would normally be "ON" (door open/switch on).
DIAGNOSIS:
Remove the fuse panel cover from the left end of the instrument panel. Install the M-1 (IOD) fuse if not already installed. Move the pink wire (M-1 circuit) coming out of the white C-11 connector located in the upper front corner of the fuse panel back and forth. If the roof mounted courtesy lamps flicker "ON" and "OFF" as the wire is moved, perform the Repair Procedure.

1 56019990 Terminal
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves testing and if necessary replacing M-1 terminal in the C-11 connector.
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable remote terminal.
2. Press the tab and remove the C-11 connector from the fuse panel.
3. Lift the locking wedge tab (moves up 2 mm).
4. Remove the pink M-1 circuit from the connector using Miller Special Tool 6680-2.
5. Cut off the existing terminal at the base of the terminal.
6. Strip off the insulation from the wire to expose 1/8 in. of copper wire. Make sure the strands of wire are not cut, just the insulation.
7. Carefully crimp new terminal, p/n 56019990, into the wire Lising crimping tool, Snap-On p/n PWC46, or equivalent.
8. Install the M-1 pink wire/terminal into the connector; reset the locking wedge.
9. Install the C-11 connector and verify courtesy lamp operation.
