NUMBER: 08-038-04GROUP: Electrical
DATE: December 2, 2004
SUBJECT:
Inoperative Driver Door Switches
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the driver door interior handle and, if necessary, the driver door switch module.
MODELS:
2004 - 2005 (CS) Pacifica
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before November 22, 2004 (MDH 1122XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may experience a permanent loss in ability to actuate all of the following functions from the driver's door switches:
^ Power door locks.
^ Right or left power mirrors.
^ Power seat adjustments.
^ Power window control.
^ Right and left heated mirrors.
^ Memory functions associated with the listed systems (if applicable).
^ Loss of communication with the driver's door switch module.
The loss of function may occur when attempting to control these functions from any of the switches located on the driver's door.
DIAGNOSIS:
Perform a "Hard Reset" of the driver's door switch module. This may be accomplished by removing all power (including memory keep alive power) from the driver's door switch module by unplugging the module power connector. Alternatively, vehicle power may be interrupted by removing the negative battery terminal when the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
The driver's door interior handle must be replaced to protect the switch module from static electricity. The new handle is more resistant to electrostatic discharge.
If the vehicle operator describes the Symptom/Condition and the vehicle was built on or before November 22, 2004 (MDH 1122XX), perform the Repair Procedure.
