Engine - Accessory Drive Belt Shield Missing

SUBJECT:
Accessory Drive Splash Shield Damaged and/or Missing

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the existing splash shield with an updated shield.

MODELS:

2004 - 2005 (CS) Pacifica

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before May 16, 2005 (MDH 0516XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The accessory drive belt shield is damaged or missing.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the Symptom/Condition is present, perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:





SPECIAL TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the existing accessory drive belt shield if present.

2. Install the new shield, p/n 05054374AA, and install new push pins in the three existing holes that line up with the new shield.

3. If the vehicle was built on or after February 1, 2005 (MDH 0201XXX), proceed to Step # 8. If the vehicle was built on or before January 31, 2005 (MDH 0131XX), proceed to the next step.





4. Position the under car portion of the shield along the inner side of the right frame rail just above the bottom frame radius.

NOTE:
Make sure the shield is not positioned below the frame rail on the inside of the frame.

5. Mark and center punch the location of the two holes to be drilled in the frame.

6. Drill two 6.4 mm (0.25 in.) holes in the marked locations.

7. Apply rust inhibitor, p/n 05093981AA, on the bare metal exposed by drilling the two holes.

8. Attach the two remaining push pins.
