Interior - Headliner Gap at Front Door Weatherstrip

SUBJECT:
Headliner Gap At Front Door Weatherstrip

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing 3 pieces of foam tape between the headliner and the Side Rail Head Impact Criteria (HIC) on each side of the vehicle.

MODELS:
2005 - 2006 (CS) Pacifica

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

A noticeable gap between the headliner and the front door weatherstrip

DIAGNOSIS:

1. Open either front door.

2. While sitting in the seat, inspect the headliner where it meets the front door body opening weatherstrip.

3. Is there a noticeable gap between the headliner and the front door weatherstrip?

a. Yes >> Perform Repair Procedure on both sides of the vehicle.

b. No >> This bulletin does not apply.





PARTS REQUIRED

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Open the left front door.

2. Pull the front door body opening weatherstrip down from the door opening fence along the top of the door opening between the A pillar and the B pillar.





3. Place one piece of foam tape on a suitable bench with the backing tape up. Mark the backing into six equal pieces 3 in. long and 9/16 in wide (Fig. 1).

4. Cut the foam tape into the six equal pieces. These six pieces will service one vehicle.





5. Insert three foam pieces between the headliner and the Side Rail HIC as shown (Fig. 2).

NOTE:
In the figure the left side is shown. The right side is similar.

6. Install the weatherstrip on the roof flange.

7. Repeat Step # 1 through Step # 6 on the right side of the vehicle.
