Repair Procedure
1. Remove the second row bench seat assembly from the vehicle. Refer to the detailed service information available in TechCONNECT, under: Service Info, 23-Body, Seats, Seat, Removal, Second Row Seat.2. Place the seat assembly on a suitable bench, with the bottom of the seat cushion facing up.
3. Remove the 4 cushion trim plastic anchors (2 on each side of the seat) that attach the seat cushion trim to the seat cushion pan on the left seat (Fig. 1).
4. Remove the shield covering the front floor mounting bracket on the left seat.
5. Remove the fastener attaching each front seat leg to floor mounting bracket on the left seat (Fig. 2).
6. At the rear floor mounting bracket in the rear of the seat, remove the two fasteners attaching the left seat cushion link to the rear floor mounting bracket (Fig. 3).
7. Remove the inboard and outboard seat back hinge shield plastic anchors and slide the shields off (Fig. 4).
8. Remove the bolt that connects the seat back hinge to the seat back (1 inboard and 1 outboard) (Fig. 5).
9. Remove the head restraint. Hold the head restraint sleeve button and pull the head restraint out.
10. Remove the head restraint sleeves.
11. Remove the child seat tether bezel on the back of the seat (Fig. 6).
12. Remove the release handle bezel. On the rear side of the seat back, push/pull upon the bezel to disengage the retention feature. Lift the handle up and remove the bezel (Fig. 7).
13. Place the seat back front side down and disengage the J-retainer across the bottom of seat back carpet (Fig. 8).
14. Pull out the end of the zippers on both sides of the seat back and unzip the trim cover (Fig. 9).
15. At the bottom of the side facing of the trim cover remove 2 plastic anchors on each side of the seat (Inboard & Outboard) (Fig. 10).
16. Along the bottom of the black load floor remove the 4 plastic anchors attaching the latch covers (one on the back and one on the side of each latch cover) and the 2 plastic anchors attaching the trim cover to the load floor (Fig. 11).
17. Flip up the carpet on the seat back to expose the black load floor and remove the 7 screws attaching the load floor to the frame (Fig. 12).
18. Disengage the black and grey fittings on handle cable from the latch mechanism (Inboard & Outboard). Load floor assembly is now free (Fig. 13).
19. Disassemble the handle from the load floor. Remove the 2 release handle fasteners and pull the cables from the retention points in the load floor. Remove and discard the release handle/cables.
20. Position the appropriate new release handle in the seat back. Route and snap the cables into the retention points in the load floor (Fig. 14).
21. Secure the release handle to the load floor with the 2 fasteners. Tighten the fasteners to 4 N.m (9 in.lbs.).
22. Place the load floor and handle assembly on top of the frame and latch assembly. Fasten the load floor to the frame 7 places (Fig. 12).
23. Snap the black cable fittings onto the latch actuation pin on both sides of the seat (Inboard & outboard) (Fig. 13).
24. Snap the grey cable fittings into the eyelet on the latch on each side of the seat. Verify the fittings are fully engaged and the latches operate as they should (Fig. 13).
25. Secure both latch covers to the load floor with 2 plastic anchors each (one on the back of the latch cover and one on the side of the latch cover)(Fig. 11).
26. Position the foam and trim cover to the frame of the seat.
27. Feed the trim flaps around the child seat latch wires so that they are visible. Place the front of the seat back face down. Secure the trim flaps to the load floor with an anchor (2 places) (Fig. 10).
28. Zip the sides of the trim cover closed. Fold over the end of the zipper and tuck it under the trim cover (Fig. 9).
29. On the trim cover side facings fold under the bottom and install the 2 plastic anchors (2 places on each side).
30. Secure the J-retainers along the bottom of the seat back (3 places) (Fig. 8).
31. Tuck the carpet flap under the tether wire on the backside of the seat and install the child seat tether bezel shield by placing it over the tether wire and snapping it into the load floor (Fig. 6).
32. Install the release handle bezel. Lift the handle up and place the bezel over it. Secure the front of the bezel and then secure the rear snap feature (Fig. 7).
33. Install the head restraint sleeves and head restraint.
34. Locate the seat back hinge on the seat cushion and start the fastener on each side of the seat. Tighten both fasteners to 25 N.m (221 in.lbs.) (Fig. 5).
35. Slide the hinge shields onto the hinge links on each side of the seat. Secure with the color matched plastic anchors. (Fig. 4)
36. Install the 4 plastic anchors on the cushion trim cover located on the underside of the cushion (Fig. 1).
37. Rotate the right seat onto the load floor with the bottom of the seat cushion facing up.
38. Remove the 4 cushion trim plastic anchors (2 on each side of the seat) that attach the seat cushion trim to the seat cushion pan on the right seat (Fig. 1).
39. Remove the inboard and outboard hinge link shield plastic anchors and slide the shields off (Fig. 4).
40. Remove the bolt that connects the hinge link to the seat back (Fig. 5) (1 inboard and 1 outboard).
41. Remove the seat cushion.
42. Rotate the right seat back to the face down position.
43. Remove the head restraint. Hold the head restraint sleeve button and pull the head restraint out.
44. Remove the head restraint sleeves.
45. Remove both child seat tether bezels on the back of the seat (Fig. 6)
46. Remove the release handle bezel. On the rear side of the seat back, push/pull up on the bezel to disengage the retention feature. Lift the handle up and remove the bezel (Fig. 7).
47. Disengage the J-retainer across the bottom of seat back carpet (Fig. 8).
48. Pull out the end of the zippers on both sides of the seat back and unzip the trim cover (Fig. 9).
49. Along the bottom of the black load floor remove the 4 plastic anchors attaching the hinge bezels and the trim cover to the load floor (Fig. 11).
50. At the bottom of the side facing of the trim cover remove 2 anchors (Fig. 10).
51. Disengage J-retainers and flip up the carpet on the seat back and remove the 10 fasteners (Phillips) attaching the load floor to the frame (Fig. 15).
52. Disengage the black and grey fittings on handle cable from the latch mechanism on each side of the seat (Inboard & Outboard). Load floor assembly is now free (Fig. 13).
53. Disassemble the handle from the load floor. Remove the 2 release handle fasteners and pull the cables from the retention points in the load floor. Remove and discard the release handle/cables.
54. Position the appropriate new release handle in the seat back. Route and snap the cables into the retention points in the load floor (Fig. 16).
55. Secure the handle to the load floor with 2 fasteners. Tighten the fasteners to 4 N.m (35 in.lbs.).
56. Place the load floor and handle assembly on top of the frame and latch assembly. Fasten the load floor to the frame 10 places (Fig. 15).
57. Snap the black handle cable fittings onto the latch actuation pin on both sides of the seat (Inboard & outboard) (Fig. 13).
58. Snap the grey cable fittings into the eyelet on the latch on each side of the seat. Verify the fittings are fully engaged and the latches operate as they should (Fig. 13).
59. Secure both latch covers to the load floor with 2 plastic anchors on each cover (one in the back and one on the side) (Fig. 11).
60. Position the foam and trim assembly to the frame of the seat.
61. Feed the trim flaps around the child seat latch wires so that they are visible. Place the front of the seat back face down. Secure the trim flaps to the load floor with an anchor (2 places).
62. Zip the sides of the trim cover closed. Fold over the end of the zipper and tuck it under the trim cover.
63. On the trim cover side facings fold under the bottom and install the 2 plastic anchors (2 places on each side).
64. Secure the J-retainers along the bottom of the seat back (3 places) (Fig. 8).
65. Tuck the carpet flap under the tether wires (2) on the backside of the seat and install the child seat tether bezel shields (2) by placing them over the tether wires and snapping them into the load floor (Fig. 6).
66. Install the release handle bezel. Lift the handle up and place the bezel over it. Secure the front of the bezel and then secure the rear snap feature.
67. Install the head restraint sleeves and head restraint.
68. Locate the seat back hinge on the seat cushion and start the fastener on each side of the seat. Tighten both fasteners to 25 N.m (221 in.lbs.) (Fig. 5).
69. Slide the seat back hinge shields onto the seat back hinges. Secure with the color matched plastic anchor.
70. Install the 4 plastic anchors on the cushion trim cover located on the underside of the cushion (Fig. 1).
71. Assemble the left seat to the rear floor mounting bracket. Tighten the 2 fasteners to 50 N.m (37 ft.lbs.) (Fig. 3).
72. Install the 2 fasteners attaching the two front seat legs to floor mounting bracket on the left seat (Fig. 2). Tighten each fastener to 25 N.m (221 in.lbs.).
73. Install the floor mount bracket shields.
