C1000 BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH 1 CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE

- When Monitored:

With the ignition on.

When Set:

When monitoring the Brake Lamp Control voltage drops below range for 300 mSec.








Diagnostic Test


1. CHECK FOR DTC-C1000 BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH 1 CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE

NOTE: This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid.

Turn the ignition on.

With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.

Cycle the ignition switch from off to on.

With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: C1000 BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH 1 CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- ABS-INTERMITTENT CONDITION TEST. ABS Intermittent Condition Test .



2. CHECK CONNECTOR/TERMINAL FOR DAMAGE


NOTE: Check all terminals for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.

Turn the ignition off.

Inspect the Stop Lamp harness connector.

Is the Stop Lamp connectors/terminals damaged?

Yes

- Repair as necessary.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. ABS Verification Test

No

- Go To 3



3. (A108) FUSED B+ CIRCUIT





Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the Stop Lamp Switch.

Turn the Ignition on.

Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the (A108) Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Repair the (A108) Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit for a open or short to ground.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. ABS Verification Test



4. STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT OPEN





Turn the ignition off.

Measure the resistance of the Stop Lamp circuit between cavity 1 and 2 in the Stop Lamp Switch while depressing the brake pedal.

Is the resistance less then 5 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 5

No

- Replace the Stop Lamp Switch.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. ABS Verification Test



5. STOP LAMP SWITCH OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN





Reconnect the Stop Lamp Switch.

Disconnect the Integrated Power Module Harness connector.

Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground probe the (L51) Stop Lamp Switch Output circuit of the Integrated Power Module Harness while depressing the brake pedal.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Replace the Integrated Power Module.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. ABS Verification Test

No

- Repair open in the (L51) Stop Lamp Switch circuit.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. ABS Verification Test
