B1482-CHANNEL 7 AUDIO SPEAKER OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORTED TOGETHER

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information. Electrical Diagrams

NOTE: On the LX/LC vehicles there are four variations of the Subwoofer Speaker systems. The output circuits from the radio amplifier, X300 and X390, go to a Subwoofer Speaker on two of the versions and on the other two they go to a Subwoofer Amplifier.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on. Radio volume at 25 or higher.

- Set Condition:
The Amplifier detects that the output circuits are shorted together.

1. CHECK FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on, engine not running.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
3. Turn the radio on and set the volume to 25.
4. Adjust the speakers to the rear and center.
5. Adjust the Bass to mid level.
6. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display active: B1482-CHANNEL 7 AUDIO SPEAKER OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORTED TOGETHER?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE SUBWOOFER SPEAKER OR SUBWOOFER AMPLIFIER

1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Subwoofer Speaker or Subwoofer Amplifier.
3. Measure the resistance of the Amplified Subwoofer Speaker or Subwoofer Amplifier between the component terminals.

NOTE: The graphic shows the connector for reference only. Measure between the subwoofer speaker or subwoofer amplifier terminals.

Is the resistance of the speaker or subwoofer amplifier below 1 Ohm?

Yes

- Replace the Subwoofer Speaker or Subwoofer Amplifier.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 3

3. CHECK THE (X300) AMPLIFIED SUBWOOFER 1 (+) CIRCUIT, AND THE (X390) AMPLIFIED SUBWOOFER 1 (-) CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER

1. Disconnect the Amplifier C2 harness connector.
2. Measure the resistance between the (X300) Amplified Subwoofer 1 (+) circuit, and the (X390) Amplified Subwoofer 1 (-) circuit.

Is the resistance below 10K Ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (X300) Amplified Subwoofer 1 (+) circuit for a short to the (X390) Amplified Subwoofer 1 (-) circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace the Radio Amplifier.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
