1. DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)

NOTE: If there are any PEM handle or antenna DTCs, perform the diagnostic procedure for them before continuing.

NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully charged.

1. Using the FOBIK, turn the ignition on.
2. Using the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
3. With the scan tool, select: PEM, More Options and System Tests.
4. Perform the PEM LF Antenna Verification Tests.
5. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: B223B-00-VEHICLE CONFIGURATION MISMATCH as active?

No

- Go To 2
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

Yes

- Verify that the PEM is configured correctly and has not been changed from another vehicle.
- If the above conditions have been met, replace the Passive Entry Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. STORED DTC
1. Using the scan tool, record and erase all DTCs from the PEM module.
2. If any ACTIVE codes are present they must be resolved before diagnosing any stored codes.
3. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
4. The following additional checks may assist you in identifying a possible intermittent problem.
5. Reconnect any disconnected components and harness connector.
6. Wiggle the wiring harness and connectors of the PEM circuit or component.
7. In the previous steps you have attempted to recreate the conditions responsible for setting this DTC active.
8. With the scan tool, perform the PEM LF Antenna Verification Tests.
9. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

Did this DTC return as ACTIVE?

Yes

- Locate, repair or replace the connector or wiring as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- No problem found at this time.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
