Interior - Front Seat Back Heritage Badge Loose

SUBJECT:
Loose Heritage Badge On Seat Back

OVERVIEW:
This involves the installation of a new heritage badge, backer plate and additional push nuts to the front seat back.

MODELS:

2009 (LX) 300/300C

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before June 29,2009 (MDHO629XX).


SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience the heritage badge separating from the left and/or right front seat back.

DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle operator experiences the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

NOTE:
One 06008076 Hog Ring, Seat will service 3 seat backs.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the seat back. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > : Service Info > 23-Body > Seats > COVER, Seat Back, Front > Removal.

2. With the seat skin removed. Remove and discard the heritage badge, backer plate and push nuts.

3. Drill out the right and left outboard holes on the new backer plate with a 7/32" (5.5mm) drill bit.

4. Install the new heritage badge and place the backing plate behind the seat skin to assure proper placement.

5. Install the push nuts on all locating pins using a 5/16" or 1/4" nut driver depending on the size of the push nut.





a. Install both large push nuts on the left and right locating pins as indicated by numbers 5 and 3 in (Fig. 1) with a 5/16" nut driver.

b. Install smaller push nuts on each of the three locating pins using the 1/4 nut driver to assure they are fully seated (Fig. 1).

6. Install the seat back. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > : Service Info > 23-Body > Seats > COVER, Seat Back, Front > Installation.

7. Return the vehicle to the customer.
