SUBJECT:
Flash: MIL Illumination P0138 And/Or P0158
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.
MODELS:
2009 - 2010 (LC) Challenger
2009 - 2010 (LE) 300C/300 Touring (International Markets)
2009-2010 (LX) 300/Charger
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 3.5L engine (Sales code EGG).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a MIL illumination. Upon further investigation the Technician may find that one or all of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are present:
1. P0138 - 02 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
2. P0158 - 02 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2) Updating the PCM software will correct the conditions listed above.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH(TM)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine and transmission systems are functioning as designed. If DTC's are present other then the one's listed above record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the above condition is present, perform the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.
1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer To Group 8 - Electrical > Electronic Control Modules - Service Information > Module - Powertrain Control > Standard Procedures > PCM/ECM Programming - Gas. After PCM reprogramming, the following must be performed:
a. Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.
2. Type the necessary information on the "Authorized Modification Label" and attach it near the VECI label.
