Decklid Release Switch - Description

DESCRIPTION

Vehicles equipped with the optional Passive Entry (PE) system have unique Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) (1) that incorporates a PE deck lid release switch (2). This tactile switch is secured to the back of the left side of the CHMSL housing with two screws. The switch button extends through clearance holes in the lamp housing and lens so that it can be accessed on the left end of the CHMSL lens, which is visible on the upper rear face of the deck lid.

The switch has a pigtail wire and connector secured to the back of the CHMSL housing that connects the switch to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated take out and connector of the body wire harness. An integral 4.7 ohm diagnostic resistor is connected in series with the output side of the switch.

The PE deck lid release switch cannot be adjusted or repaired. If the switch is damaged or ineffective, the entire switch unit must be replaced.
