Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel carrier assembly. Refer to Instrumentation/Driver Information.
3. Remove the heater/air distributor case assembly. Refer to "Heater/Air Distributor Case Assembly".
4. Remove the screws securing the evaporator case halves.
5. Remove the evaporator core case cover.
6. Slide the evaporator flange support plate upward to facilitate evaporator removal.
7. Remove the evaporator core from the case.
8. Remove the air conditioning expansion valve. Refer to "Expansion Valve".
Installation Procedure
1. Install O-rings onto the evaporator tubes.
2. Install the expansion valve. Refer to "Expansion Valve".
3. Install the evaporator core into the case. Center the evaporator flange in the case opening.
4. Assemble the evaporator case halves with the screws.
5. Install the heater/air distributor case. Refer to "Heater/Air Distributor Case Assembly".
6. Install the instrument panel carrier assembly. Refer to Instrumentation/Driver Information.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
8. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to "Discharging, Adding Oil, Evacuating, and Charging Procedures for A/C System".
