Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

Fig. 7 Removing Instrument Panel Bolt.:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then discharge refrigeration system.
2. Disconnect suction tube from cooling unit outlet fitting and liquid tube from cooling unit inlet fitting. Cap open fittings immediately to keep moisture out of system.
3. Remove grommets from inlet and outlet fittings.
4. Remove glove box and glove box reinforcement.
5. Remove console box and center cluster, then four bolts at center part of instrument panel.
6. Remove bolt shown in Fig. 7, then pull instrument panel toward front seats.
7. Disconnect connectors of A/C harness.
8. Remove evaporator case attaching bolts, then evaporator case.
9. Separate evaporator case halves, then remove evaporator core.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
