Installation
1. Apply suitable grease around cup at center of torque converter and install onto transaxle.Fig. 5 Torque Converter Installation:
2. Measure dimension A, Fig. 5. Distance should be minimum .593 inch. If distance is less than specified, converter is installed improperly and must be corrected.
3. Support transaxle with a suitable jack and install. Ensure driveplate and torque converter are not forcibly pried during installation. Torque four bolts to specifications.
4. Install bracket at lower left engine mounting-to-transaxle case. Torque to specifications.
5. Install rear engine mounting insulator to bracket. Torque bolts to to specifications.
6. Remove jacks and install front stabilizer left bracket. Torque to specifications.
7. Install starter motor. Torque to specifications.
8. Install shift control cable clamp of rear engine mounting bracket. Torque to specifications.
9. Install six bolts connecting driveplate to torque converter. Torque to specifications.
10. Connect oil cooler lines, radiator, cooling fan motor and shroud, then connect speedometer cable with speed sensor to transaxle.
11. Connect shift control cable and throttle cable.
12. Install power train stiffener and torque converter housing undercover as follows:
a. Install power train stiffener with torque converter housing undercover temporarily.
b. Install bolts connecting power train stiffener with front and rear stiffeners.
c. First tighten bolts which connect power train stiffener with torque converter housing, then tighten other bolts. Torque to specifications.
13. Install front driveshafts using caution not to damage lip section of oil seal.
14. Install lower arms and brackets. Torque to specifications.
15. Install front stabilizer bar and torque to specifications.
16. Install exhaust pipe, then the lower suspension brace to both lower arm brackets. Torque to specifications.
17. Connect ground cable at upper side of transaxle, then install neutral start switch clamp and connect electrical connector.
18. Connect solenoid valve connector and install engine wire and clamp bolt of alternator wire at upper side of transaxle.
19. Install battery carrier, windshield washer hose, wire harness clamp and battery.
20. Install engine undercover, then lower vehicle and fill transaxle fluid to capacities:
a. 2.1 Qts. for removal and installation only.
b. 3.7 Qts. for transaxle overhaul and torque converter fluid is reused.
c. 5.3 Qts. for dry transaxle and torque converter.
21. Check fluid level, wheel alignment and adjust transaxle as necessary.
