Removal


1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Block wheels, then raise and support vehicle using a suitable jack.
3. Remove engine undercover, then drain radiator and transaxle fluid.
4. Disconnect fusible link block and wire from positive battery terminal, then remove battery from vehicle.
5. Remove wire harness clamp and windshield washer hose from battery carrier, then remove carrier.
6. Remove engine wire clamp bolt at the upper part of transaxle.
7. Disconnect electrical connectors from transaxle solenoid valve and neutral switch. Remove connector from clamp.
8. Disconnect ground cable at upper part of transaxle.
9. Remove lower suspension brace from both lower arm brackets, then remove exhaust pipe.
10. Remove front stabilizer bar, then remove lower arms together with respective bracket.
11. Using driveshaft removal tool No. 09648-87201-000 or equivalent, remove front driveshafts.

12. Remove power train stiffener and torque converter housing undercover as follows;
a. Remove bolts which connect power train stiffener with front and rear stiffeners, Fig. 4.
b. Remove power train stiffener with clutch housing undercover from housing.
13. Remove throttle cable from throttle lever and clamps.
14. Disconnect shift control cable from shaft lever and clip to upper part of transaxle.
15. Disconnect vehicle speed sensor electrical connector at transaxle side of speedometer cable, then disconnect speedometer cable.
16. Disconnect electrical connector and remove fan motor and both radiator hoses.
17. Remove oil cooler inlet and outlet hoses.
18. Remove six bolts connecting driveplate to torque converter.
19. Remove shift control cable clamp of rear engine mounting bracket.
20. Remove starter motor, then disconnect front stabilizer bracket.
21. Place suitable jacks under engine and transaxle.
22. Remove three of the four engine to transaxle bolts. Leave forth bolt loosely attached.
23. Remove rear engine mounting insulator-to-transaxle case side bracket bolts.
24. Remove bolts which attach bracket at transaxle side of lower left engine mounting-to-transaxle case.
25. Remove last bolt connecting engine to transaxle, then remove transaxle.
