Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove the engine undercover.
4. Drain engine coolant, then transmission oil.
5. Remove lower suspension brace from lower arm brackets.
6. Remove extension rod, then shift and select shaft from transmission case.
7. Remove exhaust pipe, then front stabilizer bar.
8. Remove lower arms from lower arm brackets, then exhaust support bracket from power plant stiffener.
9. Remove the driveshafts, using the driveshaft puller No. 09648-87201-000 or equivalent.
10. Disconnect the fusible link connector at the positive battery terminal, then remove battery.
11. Remove clamp of the battery carrier, then carrier.
12. Remove wire harness clamp with the EFI check terminal at the top of the transmission, then disconnect the back-up lamp switch.
13. Remove speedometer cable from the transmission, then ground cable.
14. Disconnect the clutch cable from the release fork lever, then clutch cable bracket.
15. Disconnect coolant inlet hose from radiator, then remove power plant stiffener from engine and clutch housing.
16. Remove starter, then support engine and transmission using a suitable jack.
17. Remove all but top center transmission bolt.
18. Remove rear engine mounting insulator to bracket bolts, at the transmission case side.
19. Remove lower left engine mounting bolts to the transmission case, then the stay bolt at the upper part of the transmission case.
20. Remove remaining transmission attaching bolt, then lower transmission from vehicle.
