3.3.1 Front Sensor Short

When Monitored

The ASDM monitors this circuit continuously while the igniton is on.

When Stored in Memory

The front sensor short code is stored in the ASDM's memory when the ignition is turned to the off position.

Effect

A front sensor short will cause the air bag warning lamp to illuminate as long as the fault is present, with a minimum lamp on-time of 12 seconds. The air bag may deploy in the event of a minor impact.

Possible Causes

A front sensor short code will be set if the wiring to either sensor from the ASDM becomes shorted to each other or to ground. Additionally, if the clockspring shorts to ground this could cause a front sensor short trouble code.
