Increased travel efforts may occur only at temperatures below -10~F. Revised check strap assemblies have been developed to correct these conditions.**
THE CHECK STRAPS SHOULD BE REPLACED ON ALL FOUR DOORS ON ANY VEHICLE EXHIBITING THIS CONDITION.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This repair involves installation of revised door check straps.
1. Replace the revised door check straps as described on pages 23-16 and 23-24 of the 1993 Concorde/intrepid/Vision Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-3140).
**NOTE:
CARE MUST BE TAKEN WHEN INSTALLING THE CHECK STRAP/BUSHING OVER THE PIN. IF THE BUSHING IS DAMAGED AT ALL DURING INSTALLATION, A CLICKING NOISE WILL RESULT AND THE BUSHING WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. TO PREVENT DAMAGING THE BUSHING, INSTALL THE CHECK STRAP OVER THE PIN BEFORE INSTALLING THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE CHECK STRAP TO THE DOOR END FRAME. **
2. To install the retaining clip, slide the clip over the pin using a 3/8" O.D. shallow socket and a tongue and groove pliers (water pump pliers) and press the clip into place. The clip must be seated in the groove on the pin.
