Cruise Control Switch: Testing and Inspection
1. Remove speed control On/Off and Set switch assembly, then disconnect electrical connector.2. Inspect resistance between terminal No. 1 and No. 3. of On/Off and Set switch. Resistance should be as specified in Chart below:
CONDITION RESISTANCE, OHMS
No Switches Depressed No Continuity
On/Off Switch Depressed 0-0.5
Set Switch Depressed 6583-6717
Resume/Accel Switch Depressed 15,246-15,554
Cancel Switch Depressed 899-919
Decel Switch Depressed 2910-2970
3. Remove speed control Resume/Accel, Cancel and Decel switch assembly, then disconnect electrical connector.
4. Inspect resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of Resume/Accel, Cancel and Decel switch. Resistance should be as specified in chart above.
5. If resistance is not as specified, then replace switch.
6. If "ON" indicator does not illuminate, connect battery voltage to terminal No. 2 and ground to terminal No. 3 of On/Off and Set switch. "ON" indicator should illuminate. If indicator is not as specified, then replace switch.
7. If "ON" indicator illuminates, then inspect speed control dimmer module as follows:
a. Remove top cover shroud to access turn signal combination switch.
b. Remove speed control dimmer module from back side of turn signal combination switch.
c. Inspect for continuity between dimmer module terminal No. 1 and No. 3, then between terminal No. 3 and No. 4.
d. If no continuity is present, then replace dimmer module. If continuity is satisfactory then refer to wiring diagram and inspect wire circuit V32 for open or short.
