Inspect wiring harness in the area shown in Figure 1 for chaffing or cut wires. Repair any wires that are cut or chaffed following the wiring repair procedure outlined on Page 8W-01-7 of the 1996 Town & Country, Caravan and Voyager Service Manual (Publication No. 81-370-6105), then perform the repair procedure of this bulletin.

PARTS REQUIRED:

AR 4364393 Convolute, Wiring 6 mm (0.250 in.) Diameter
AR 4364392 Convolute, Wiring 16 mm (0.625 in.) Diameter
AR 4304571 Convolute, Wiring 32 mm (1.250 in.) Diameter
AR 4778138 Tape
AR 6015756 Strap, Tie

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves installing additional wiring harness convolute in the area of the transaxle.

NOTE:
STEPS 1 AND 2 OF THE REPAIR MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN INSTALLED IN PRODUCTION. IF SO, SKIP TO STEP 3.

1. Add 135 mm (5.375 in.) of 32 mm (1.25 in.) diameter convolute, P/N 4304571, over the wiring harness between the front engine mount and the transaxle oil pan clip "A". Position the convolute 30 mm (1.125 in.) away from the transaxle oil plan clip "A". Position the convolute so the slit in the convolute is towards the front of the vehicle and away from the transaxle (refer to Figure 2).

2. Secure the convolute installed in step 1 to the wiring harness with 2 tie straps, P/N 6015756, one at each end of the convolute.

3. Add 120 mm (4.750 in.) of 16 mm (0.625 in.) diameter convolute, P/N 4364392, over the portion of the branch of the wiring harness that runs to the transaxle solenoid pack, speed sensors and crankshaft position sensor, between the main wiring bundle and the branch to the output speed sensor. Position the convolute so the slit in the convolute is toward the driver side of the vehicle and one end of the convolute is as close as possible to where this branch of the harness comes out of the main wiring bundle (refer to Figure 2).

4. Secure the convolute installed in step 3 to the wiring harness with 2 tie straps, P/N 6015756, one at each end of the convolute.

5. Add 110 mm (4.375) of 16 mm (0.625) diameter convolute, P/N 4364392, over the portion of the branch of the wiring harness that runs to the transaxle solenoid pack, speed sensors and crank position sensor, that is between the output speed sensor branch and the turbine speed sensor branch.

6. Secure the convolute installed in step 5 to the wiring harness with 2 tie straps, P/N 6015756, one at each end of the convolute.

7. Add 280 mm (11 in.) of 32 mm (1.25 in.) diameter convolute, P/N 4304571, over the wiring harness between the transaxle oil pan clip "A" and the transaxle cover clip "B". Position the convolute 3O mm (1.125 in.) away from the transaxle oil pan clip "A". Position the convolute so the slit in the convolute is toward the driver side of the vehicle (refer to Figure 2).

8. Secure the convolute installed in step 7 to the wiring harness with 3 tie straps, P/N 6015756, one at each end and one in the middle of the convolute.

9. Add 150 mm (5.875 in.) of 6 mm (0.250 in.) diameter convolute, P/N 4304571, over the wiring harness branch that runs to the output speed sensor.

10. Secure the convolute installed in step 9 to the wiring harness with tape, P/N 4778138.

11. Add 160 mm (6.250 in.) of 6 mm (0.250 in.) diameter convolute, P/N 4304571, over the wiring harness branch that runs to the turbine speed sensor.

12. Secure the convolute installed in step 9 to the wiring harness with tape, P/N 4778138.
