NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO APR. 6, 1995 (MDH 04-06-XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Exhaust drone noise heard during moderate acceleration, particularly at 2500 to 2800 engine RPM.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle operator describes experiencing the above symptom/condition perform the repair procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
3 4809041 Insulator, Exhaust
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacement of the three exhaust insulators with revised insulators.
1. Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
2. Remove the three exhaust insulators and discard.
NOTE:
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION CAN BE MADE EASIER BY LUBRICATING THE INSULATOR HOLES WITH A WATER/SOAP SOLUTION. DO NOT LUBRICATE EXHAUST INSULATORS WITH A PETROLEUM BASED PRODUCT AS DETERIORATION OF THE ISOLATOR RUBBER WILL OCCUR.
3. Install the revised exhaust isolators, P/N 4809041.
4. Lower the vehicle.
