SUBJECT:
[1][2]Power Distribution Center Cover Ignition Off Draw (IOD) Fuse

MODELS:
1996 (NS) Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager
1996 (GS) Chrysler Voyager (European Market)

DISCUSSION:

When installing the Power Distribution Center (PDC) cover, it is important to ensure the cover is properly positioned and fully latched. Failure to do so may allow water to get into the PDC, and possibly result in an electrical system failure.

It is not necessary to completely remove the PDC cover when connecting the IOD fuse during vehicle Road Ready. To gain access to and connect the IOD, release the latch at the rear of the PDC and lift the PDC cover slightly. Press down on the yellow IOD holder inside the PDC until it is bottomed in its receptacle. Push down on the IOD fuse with a small screwdriver to be sure the fuse is seated. Return the PDC cover to is original position and pull up on the rear of the PDC cover to make sure the PDC cover is fully latched and secure to the PDC body.

If the PDC cover ever needs to be removed, release the latch at the rear of the PDC cover and raise the PDC cover until the front edge of the cover is almost contacting the body upper front crossmember. Push the forward end of the PDC cover downward to disengage the PDC cover hinge loop from the PDC body hinge tab. Rotate the rear end of the PDC cover downward so the PDC cover hinge loop will clear the PDC body hinge tab as the PDC cover is lifted away from the PDC body.

To install the PDC cover, position the PDC cover down to the PDC body so the PDC cover hinge loop aligns with PDC body hinge tab. Raise the rear end of the PDC cover so the crossbar of the PDC cover hinge loop passes under the PDC body hinge tab. Lift the front end of the PDC cover so the PDC cover hinge loop and PDC body hinge tab engage. Press the rear of the PDC cover downward so the latch at the rear end of the PDC is fully engaged. Pull up on the rear of the PDC cover to make sure the PDC cover is fully latched and secure to the PDC body.
