SAFETY RECALL TO INSTALL EXTENSIONS ON YOUR VEHICLE'S
INTEGRATED CHILD SEAT BELTS

Dear Chrysler Minivan Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Chrysler Corporation has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1996 and 1997 Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan; Plymouth Voyager and Grand Voyager; and Chrysler Town & Country minivans equipped with integrated child seats.

The problem is...

Debris in the latch plate area of the integrated child seats on your minivan (identified on the enclosed form), may cause the belt retractor to remain locked when the buckle is unlatched. A locked retractor could make it difficult to remove a child from the seat.

What Chrysler and your dealer will do...

Chrysler will repair the child seats in your minivan free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will install child seat belt extensions to make the emergency release clips more accessible. A child seat owner manual addendum card will also be provided to explain the latch plate and emergency release clip operation. In addition, the latch plate of each child seat will be inspected for proper operation and cleaned if necessary. The work will take about one hour to complete. However, additional time may be necessary depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and processed.

What you must do to ensure your safety...

^ Simply contact your dealer right away to schedule a service appointment. Ask the dealer to hold the parts for your vehicle or to order them before your appointment.

^ Bring the enclosed Owner Notification Form with you to your dealer. It explains the required service to the dealer.
