Dealer Service Instructions
IMPORTANTCustomer Satisfaction Notification # 721
Child Safety Seat Video and Harness Clips
^ This service requirement applies only to 1996 and 1997 model year Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager and Chrysler Town & Country (NS) minivans equipped with integrated child seats built through May 29, 1997 (MDH 0529XX).
^ Some owners have experienced difficulty with release of the seat belts and removal of their child from the seat on the above listed vehicles. If the child seat latch plate does not move freely and does not retract after the harness buckle is disconnected, the seat belt retractor mechanism will not release and allow the belt webbing to be pulled out. Therefore, a videotape that instructs owners on the proper use and maintenance of the child seats has been produced. Included with the videotape are two (2) harness clips. The purpose of the harness clip is to prevent a child from slipping their shoulders out of the shoulder belt straps.
^ No service action is required for customer-owned vehicles. However, upon customer request, the child seat latch plate mechanism(s) should be cleaned and lubricated free of charge using the enclosed service procedure. Effective immediately, the Labor Operation Number for TSB 23-37-96 is being canceled.
^ 1997 model year vehicles built on or after May 29, 1997 (MDH O529XX) have already had the video and harness clips included with the other vehicle owner information.
Parts Packages:
^ No parts will be distributed to involved dealers. Dealers are requested to order enough Child Safety Seat Video packages to cover all involved UNSOLD vehicles remaining in dealer inventory.
^ No parts are required for latch plate cleaning, if necessary.
