Diagnostic Procedure D
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE D: Fuel Rail Pressure Solenoid Leak Quantity Test1. Disconnect the rubber return fuel line from the fuel rail (Fig. 2).
2. Crimp the rubber fuel return as shown to avoid fuel spills.
3. Attach one end of a separate rubber fuel hose, 6 in. long to the fuel rail as shown (Fig. 2). Hold the other end of the rubber hose into an appropriate container.
4. Attach the leakage vials, Miller Special Tool # 9545, to all of the injectors.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector to the cam shaft sensor.
6. Crank the engine for 10 seconds and watch for leakage. There should be no noticeable leakage quantity in the container measuring leakage from the pressure solenoid. If leakage is present, replace the complete fuel rail including the pressure sensor and the pressure solenoid. Refer to the information available in TechCONNECT. When the repair is complete, proceed to Step # 7.
7. Perform the "Road Test Verification" - VER-2. Refer to the service information available in TechCONNECT.
