Ring & Pinion Service For 3.21 Gear Ratio
MODELS:
2007 - 2008 (KA) Nitro
2008 (KK) Liberty
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicle equipped with 3.21 gear ratio rear axle (sales code DMC) all engines.
DISCUSSION:
Replacing the rear axle ring and pinion on the corporate 8 1/4 axle with a 3.21 gear ratio has specific and unique service procedures.
Follow procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under Service > 3 - Differential & Driveline> Rear Axle - 8-1/4 > Gear-Pinion/Ring > Removal And Installation > Gear-Pinion/Ring.
a. Removal of the ring gear from the differential requires pressing ring gear off of the differential with Plug 8926-2 and Remover 10126-1.
b. Installation of the ring gear on to the differential requires the use of a bearing heater and left hand threaded Pins 10126-2
