P1274
P1274-A/C CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT 2 OPEN - 6.7L
For a complete wiring diagram Refer to Diagrams/Electrical.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
Battery voltage greater than 10.4 volts.
Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) requesting A/C Clutch operation.
- Set Condition:
An open condition has been detected in the A/C Clutch Control Output circuit by the TIPM. One Trip Fault. Three good trips to turn off the MIL.
Possible Causes:
1. CHECK FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION
NOTE: Prior to diagnosing this DTC, check the ECM for DTCs P0646-A/C CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW and P0647-A/C CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
1. Start the engine.
2. Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.
3. Turn the A/C on.
4. Using the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the DTC Active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests
2. CHECK THE (C3) A/C CLUTCH CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off
2. Disconnect the TIPM C9 harness connector.
3. Disconnect the A/C Compressor Clutch harness connector.
4. Measure the resistance of the (C3) A/C Clutch Control Output circuit between the TIPM C9 harness connector and the A/C Compressor Clutch harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the open in the (C3) A/C Clutch Control Output circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests
3. CHECK THE (Z153)/(Z816) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z153)/(Z816) Ground circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (Z153)/(Z816) Ground circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests
4. CHECK THE TIPM FOR CORRECT OPERATION
1. Reconnect the TIPM C9 harness connector.
2. Ignition on, engine not running.
3. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (C3) A/C Clutch Control Output circuit at the A/C Compressor Clutch harness connector.
4. With the scan tool, actuate the A/C Clutch.
Does the test light illuminate brightly or flash on and oft?
Yes
- Replace the A/C Compressor Clutch in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests
No
- Replace the TIPM in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests
