B1C16-DRIVER ACTIVE HEADREST CONTROL CIRCUIT MISMATCH

Theory of Operation

When powered, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) sends a test current to the head restraints to verify the integrity of the head restraints and the wiring. The repair of this fault condition does not involve any external circuitry and centers on verifying the modules internal circuitry and software validity.

- When Monitored:
The ORC checks the feature configuration at power up during the initialization process, and continuously through the ignition cycle.

- Set Condition:
The Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) sends a configuration message to the ORC containing the Driver Head Restraint configuration status. This DTC will set if the ORC is not configured for Driver Head Restraint and receives the Driver Head Restraint communication messages on the Driver Head Restraint Solenoid circuit.





1. VERIFY ACTIVE DTC

NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully charged.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read the ORC DTCs.

Does the scan tool display active B1C16 DRIVER ACTIVE HEADREST CONTROL CIRCUIT MISMATCH DTC?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test Complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Restraints System Intermittent Condition Test

2. VERIFY ORC CONFIGURATION
1. Replace or reprogram the TIPM. Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) - Removal.
2. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. With the scan tool, read the ORC DTCs.
5. Cycle the ignition Off and then On.
6. With the scan tool, read the ORC DTCs.

Does the scan tool display active B1C16-DRIVER ACTIVE HEADREST CONTROL CIRCUIT MISMATCH DTC?

Yes

- Replace the ORC. Occupant Restraint Controller - Removal.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Restraints System Intermittent Condition Test

No

- Test Complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Restraints System Intermittent Condition Test
