HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS AVAILABLE BY SELECTING "HELP" THEN "HELP CONTENTS" AT THE TOP OF THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.

THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 11.03 OR HIGHER TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

SUBJECT:
Flash: HVAC Control Module

OVERVIEW:

This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the HVAC Module with new software.

MODELS:

2011 (WD) Durango

2011 (WK) Grand Cherokee

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 3.6L and 5.7L engines (sales code ERB or EZH) and Air Conditioning with duel zone control (sales code HAF) and WD models also equipped with Rear Air Conditioning W/Heater (sales code HBB) built before January 6, 2011 (MDH 0106XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may experience any of the following conditions:

^ A increase or decrease of blower speed when the vehicle is accelerated and/or when the vehicle is in a turn (WK/WD 3.6L vehicles only).

^ HVAC front controls may switch to display rear controls without actually changing any settings to the rear or front controls (WD vehicles only with Rear Air Conditioning W/Heater sales code HBB).

^ In Automatic Temp Control mode with high fan setting, a howl/moan and/or rumble sound (higher pitch) may be heard in cold temperatures <=15° F (<=9.5° C).

^ Slight popping or ticking sound when switched into or out of Recirculation Mode in cold temperatures - 22° F (- 30° C).

Updating the ATC software will correct these condition.

DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH(TM)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all HVAC Systems are functioning as designed. If DTC's are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.

If the above condition is present, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.

1. Using the wiTECH Diagnostic Application for flashing a HVAC is made available through the wiTECH Diagnostic Application. For instructions select the "HELP tab on upper portion of the wiTECH window, then "HELP CONTENTS. This will open the Welcome to wiTECH Help screen were help topics can be selected.

a. Clear any DIG's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.
