Body - Hood Seal Is Loose Or Missing

SUBJECT:
Loose Or Missing Hood Seal

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting for a loose or missing hood seal.

MODELS:

2011 (WD) Durango

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built after December 23, 2010 (MDHI223XX) and before December 28, 2010 (MDH1228XXX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may notice the hood seal is missing or not properly adhered to the hood and in some areas it may be loose.

DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer's VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Open the hood and inspect for a loose or missing hood seal ( ). Was the hood seal loose or missing?

a. Yes >>> Proceed to Step # 2.

b. No >>> Return vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.

2. Remove and discard the hood seal.





3. Using isopropyl alcohol and a cloth, clean the surface area thoroughly where the new hood seal will be installed (Fig. 2).





4. Install new hood seal starting from the left side by pushing the attaching push pins in the corresponding locator holes (Fig. 3).

5. Remove and discard the liner from the double back tape (Fig. 3).

6. Apply firm even hand pressure across the hood seal to wet out the adhesive (Fig. 3).

7. Return the vehicle to the customer.
