AGM Battery Testing and Charging

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves how to charge the AGM battery, Diagnose and retrieve the 15 digit code.

MODELS:

2011 WK Grand Cherokee

2011 WD Durango

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
AGM batteries require the use of the Midtronics GR8-1220K1T-CHRY. Damage can occur if the battery is charged with a standard charger.

NOTE:
The AGM Tester/Charger will only charge at a rate of 14.6 volts maximum.

DISCUSSION:
The new Midtronics battery tester charger will provide proper charging for AGM batteries, better testing capabilities with load testing, an all new 15 digit warranty code, with connectivity to the wiTECH for vehicle verification.

The battery must be completely charged and the terminals should be properly cleaned and inspected before diagnostic procedures are performed. (Refer to 08 - Electrical/Battery system - Cleaning) and (Refer to 08 - Electrical/Battery System - Inspection) for proper battery cleaning and inspection procedures.
