1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
2. Remove intake and exhaust manifold bolts. Remove manifolds and intake manifold gasket.
3. Remove valve cover bolts and valve cover.
4. Alternately loosen rocker arm capscrews, then remove bridges, pivots and rocker arms.
5. Remove pushrods and spark plugs.
6. Remove cylinder head bolts and cylinder head.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Coat cylinder head gasket with a suitable sealer and install gasket with the word TOP facing upward. Install cylinder head bolts and torque to specifications in sequence, Fig. 1. Coat threads of stud No. 8 with a suitable sealer and torque nut to 75 ft. lbs. Torque intake and exhaust manifold bolts to 23 ft. lbs. in sequence, Fig. 2.
