Clutch: Service and Repair
EAGLE1. Remove transmission as described under Transmission, Replace.
2. Remove righthand brace rod and starter motor, then disconnect clutch release cylinder spring from clutch fork.
3. Remove clutch release cylinder, with hydraulic line attached, and clutch housing inspection cover.
4. Disconnect exhaust pipe at exhaust manifold, then remove clutch housing to engine attaching bolts and remove clutch housing.
5. Mark pressure plate and flywheel for reassembly, then remove pressure plate attaching bolts and remove pressure plate and clutch disc. Loosen pressure plate attaching bolts alternately and evenly to prevent distorting pressure plate.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Position clutch disc and pressure plate on flywheel and install attaching bolts finger tight. Align clutch disc using a suitable alignment tool, then tighten pressure plate attaching bolts alternately and evenly to 28 ft. lbs. Torque clutch housing to engine upper attaching bolts to 27 ft. lbs. Torque clutch housing lower attaching bolts and dowel bolts to 43 ft. lbs. Torque transmission to engine attaching bolts to 55 ft. lbs.
