Fuel System Maintenance

The fuel tank, filler cap, fuel lines and vent lines must be maintained in good condition to prevent raw fuel vapors (hydrocarbon) from entering the atmosphere.
1. Inspect filler cap for fuel leakage as indicated by stains at the filler neck opening. Remove cap and check condition of sealing gasket. Replace cap if gasket is damaged or deteriorated.
2. Inspect fuel tank for evidence of leakage as indicated by stains. Trace any stain back to its source and repair or replace the tank as necessary.
3. Inspect all lines and hoses for leakage or damage and repair or replace as necessary. Make sure all connections are tight.
4. If liquid fuel is present at fuel vapor storage canister, inspect liquid check valve and replace if necessary.
5. Replace charcoal canister filter at the recommended intervals.
