Fig. 2 Windshield wiper motor park test.:
On all models, wiper arms should park to the right of the vehicle 1-2 to 2 inches above the lower windshield molding. Before checking for defective electrical components, ensure wiper arms, motor crank arm and transmission are properly installed.
1. Operate wipers with glass wet, and ensure blades wipe within 1-2 to 2 inches of lower windshield molding at their lowest point of travel.
2. Position wiper arms if necessary and recheck park position. If wipers still do not park properly, stop motor with wipers at mid-point of travel.
3. Disconnect electrical connector to wiper motor, connect a jumper wire between black and white wire terminals on motor, and connect battery voltage to red wire terminal.
4. If motor does not run to park position and stop, repair or replace motor.
5. If motor runs to park position and stops, check wiper switch continuity in park (off) position, and continuity of wiring between motor and switch. Repair wiring or replace switch as needed.
