Control Arm: Service and Repair
Remove nuts from stabilizer bar mounting bracket bolts and slide bracket off the bolts. Disconnect the brackets from both lower control arms. The bracket bolts and nuts also secure the lower ball joints to the control arms. Replace a nut on one of the two bolts after removing the bracket.
1. Move stabilizer bar downward and away from the lower control arm.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove wheel(s).
4. Remove lower ball joint key bolt and nut.
5. Remove bolts attaching lower control arm to the engine cradle, then the control arm.
6. Retain plastic washer located on the lower ball joint.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Torque key bolt to 33 ft. lbs.
