Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Description and Operation
The MJ-3 automatic transaxle has three forward speeds and one reverse. The transaxle is electronically controlled by the BVA computer module which is mounted in the engine compartment. The BVA computer interprets information from the road speed sensor, throttle position sensor and the multi-function switch, and converts the information into electrical signals (instructions) to the valve body solenoid valves. These solenoid valves open and close hydraulic passages to change gears.
