Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Testing and Inspection

CREEP IN NEUTRAL POSITION

1. Incorrect gear selector lever adjustment.
2. Defective E1-E2 clutch assembly.

CREEP IN DRIVE POSITION

1. Incorrect idle speed adjustment.
2. Incorrectly adjusted or defective accelerator cable.
3. Defective torque converter.

SLIPS DURING DRIVE OR REVERSE

1. Incorrect fluid level.
2. Incorrect fluid pressure (vacuum capsule/modulator incorrectly adjusted).
3. Defective or restricted valve body.
4. Defective or damaged torque converter.

SLIPS IN DRIVE ONLY

1. Defective or damaged E1-E2 clutch assembly.
2. Worn or damaged free wheel assembly.

SLIPS DURING SHIFTING

1. Incorrect fluid pressure (vacuum capsule/modulator incorrectly adjusted).
2. Defective or restricted valve body.
3. Restricted oil pump screen.
4. Worn or damaged E1-E2 clutches.
5. Defective F2 brake.

SURGE DURING DRIVE

1. Incorrect idle speed adjustment.
2. Incorrectly adjusted or damaged accelerator cable.
3. Incorrect fluid level.

SURGE DURING SHIFTS

1. Incorrect fluid pressure (vacuum capsule/modulator incorrectly adjusted).
2. Defective vacuum capsule (modulator) or hose.
3. Restricted or damaged valve body.

INCORRECT SHIFT SPEEDS/INTERVALS

1. Incorrect adjusted or defective accelerator cable.
2. Incorrect adjusted load potentiometer.
3. Poor electrical connections or defective harness, connectors or grounds.
4. Defective kickdown switch.
5. Defective computer.
6. Defective road speed sensor.

NO DRIVE IN ANY SHIFT POSITION

1. Incorrectly adjusted gear selector.
2. Incorrect fluid level.
3. Restricted or damaged valve body.
4. Defective oil pump.
5. Restricted oil pump screen.
6. Damaged oil pump shaft or turbine shaft.
7. Defective final drive.
8. Defective converter drive plate or torque converter.
9. Defective E1-E2 clutches.

NO DRIVE IN D OR 1ST GEAR

1. Defective valve body.
2. Defective E1-E2 clutches.
3. Defective free wheel assembly.

NO DRIVE IN 3RD OR REVERSE

1. Damaged valve body assembly.
2. Defective E1-E2 clutch assembly.

NO REVERSE OR ENGINE BRAKING IN 1ST GEAR

1. Defective multi-function switch.
2. Defective valve body.
3. Defective F1 brake.

NO 1ST SPEED IN DRIVE

1. Poor electrical connections or defective harness, connectors or grounds.
2. Defective solenoid valves.
3. Defective F2 brake.

NO 2ND SPEED IN DRIVE

1. Poor electrical connections or defective harness, connectors or grounds.
2. Defective valve body.
3. Defective F2 brake.

NO 3RD SPEED IN DRIVE

1. Poor electrical connections or defective harness, connectors or grounds.
2. Defective computer.
3. Defective solenoid valves.
4. Defective multi-function switch.
5. Defective valve body.

NO 1ST OR 2ND GEAR HOLD

1. Incorrect adjusted gear selector lever.
2. Poor electrical connections or defective harness, connectors or grounds.
3. Defective computer.
4. Defective solenoid valves.
5. Defective multi-function switch.
6. Defective valve body.

REMAINS IN 1ST GEAR W/SELECTOR IN DRIVE

1. Poor electrical connections or defective harness, connectors or grounds.
2. Defective computer.
3. Defective solenoid valves.
4. Defective road speed sensor.
5. Defective valve body.

REMAINS IN 3RD GEAR W/SELECTOR IN DRIVE

1. Defective fuse.
2. Poor electrical connections or defective harness, connectors or grounds.
3. Defective computer.
4. Defective oil pump.
5. Defective Valve body.
