Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair
1. Disarm airbag, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.2. Remove both side rocker trim panels.
3. Disconnect instrument panel wiring from both side A-pillars.
4. Disconnect ground cables from both side rocker sills.
5. Disconnect fuse panel and door buzzer.

6. Remove seven lower instrument panel cover attaching screws then the cover.
7. Disconnect speedometer cable from speedometer.

8. Remove six console retaining screws (A).
9. Open glove box door, then pull edge of console out to free it from instrument panel.
10. On models equipped with manual transaxle, pry off shift boot cover using a screwdriver.
11. On models equipped with automatic transaxle, proceed as follows:
a. Loosen shift indicator plate by prying up at edge using a screwdriver.
b. Remove shift lever knob by pulling straight off.
c. Remove shift indicator plate.

12. On all models, remove two screws (C) attaching console to support.
13. Pull lower section of console straight back and lift up to remove.
14. Pull upper section of console down and out of instrument panel.

15. Remove four radio bezel attaching screws (A).

16. Drill out six radio retaining rivets (B), then remove radio bracket (D).

17. Remove retaining screw (E) from heater control.

18. Remove heater control knobs, then lower heater control panel and disconnect two control cables and all electrical connections.
19. Remove steering column, refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Service and Repair.

20. Remove speaker covers (A) from upper corners of dash.
21. Remove attaching bolts (B) from each corner of dash.
22. Disconnect all electrical connections, then remove instrument panel.

23. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Position instrument panel on centering device (A).
b. Connect ground cables to both side rocker sills as shown.
c. Refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING/DISARMING to reactivate airbag.
