Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove brake drum to axle shaft hub attaching screws, then the brake drum.
4. Remove brake drum from axle shaft hub.
5. Using a suitable screwdriver, pry off plastic hub cover.
6. Remove axle shaft hub locknut.
7. Remove axle shaft hub from axle shaft.
8. Remove axle shaft to rear axle attaching bolts.
9. Remove bolt attaching brake backing plate to axle shaft.
10. Remove axle shaft.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
